SNR Donations Help Clinton Kids
Jo Theis, assistant principal at Clinton Elementary School, center, thanked Dee Ebbeka, left, and Matt Joeckel, right, representatives of SNR’s Outreach Committee, for donations that will help Clinton’s students and families enjoy the summer more. |
Thank you to all who donated summer supplies and cash to Clinton Elementary School. We collected $250 in cash as well as flip flops, balls, toys, stuffed animals, play dough, coloring books, crayons, chalk, books, and more, and delivered it all in several boxes to the school on Tuesday, May 26.
Jo Theis, assistant principal, said that more than 90 percent of the school’s students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, one of the highest rates in Lincoln Public Schools. School officials will use the cash we donated to buy small items that students need, such as bike locks, or gift cards for families in crisis such as gift cards for gas. Some parents, for example, face an income loss if they need to leave work to be with a student who is ill. A $20 grocery card can help ease the stress.
