Scott Bohaty

Hi, I'm Scott Bohaty, and I'm a natural resources and environmental economics major in the School of Natural Resources and the Department of Agricultural Economics from Bellwood (Neb.).

I chose my major from a one-page summary of various majors I read once, but I've had a long-standing interest in conservation. I was involved with 4-H and participated in the FFA (former Future Farmers of America) land judging team in high school. While with FFA, I also helped plant a mixed-fruit orchard.

I decided to combine that interest with the study of economics to help document the economics benefits of conservation and sustainability. It's included a little more economics than I expected, but the mix is very good.

In keeping with that interest, I've been involved with the Soil and Water Resources Club. I've also worked as an intern with the Natural Resources Conservation Service for four years and would like to work for that organization when I graduate.

In addition, the professors and students I've met in the School are all good people, and I'd recommend them to anyone interested in natural resources.

Any student interested in the Environmental Studies Program should take the time to consider the possibility seriously. The discipline incorporates an array of disciplines and therefore produces students equipped to deal with multi-faceted environmental issues with an extremely well-rounded education.
