Steve Herdzina

Hi, I'm Steve Herdzina, and I'm a  fisheries and wildlife major from Omaha (Neb.) in the School of Natural Resources.

I became interested in majoring in natural resources because growing up a lot of my free-time activities, with both family and friends, had to do with hunting and fishing and with an appreciation for wildlife. A high school ecology class and other science classes also got me very interested in this major.

I had another major before this one, and I've found the professors in the SNR friendlier and easier to work with. I'm not another face in the crowd here. They know you personally and make time for you.

In addition, while in the SNR, I‘ve had a chance to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture during the summer. The first summer I worked in water conservation, and the second in the Midwest livestock insect research unit.

I think I'd like to work a while after graduating before entering graduate school, most likely for a state, federal or nonprofit wildlife organization.
