Elizabeth Kurth

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Kurth and I am a Fisheries and Wildlife major at UNL. I interned with Raptor Recovery Nebraska, who's mission is to "provide care and support for injured and orphaned raptors in preparation for release; to assist in the management of raptor populations and raptor research: to enlist public support for raptor conservation through educational programs, displays and special events utilizing live raptors as ambassadors for their kind." These birds include a variety of species consisting of red tailed hawks, kestrels, great horn owls, screech owls, peregrine falcons, coopers hawks, golden eagles, and bald eagles. Raptor Recovery attends a variety of programs with their educational birds, to educate people on the importance of these animals. Through treating and releasing injured birds they are ensuring that populations do not dwindle to low numbers. I would not take back a single day of my experience at Raptor Recovery. I loved every second of it and would highly recommend the experience to anyone who is interested.
