The goal of the project is to understand soil changes that have resulted from forest growth in Nebraska since ca. 1854. We examine:
- soil morphology (e.g., horizonation, soil structure, pores, etc.)
- soil micromorphology
- soil physical and chemical properties at multiple sites
Our site observations are compared to similar but non-forested soils in the same area, on similar landscape positions, and on the same parent materials.
