Applied Ecology
Applied Ecology faculty research the interactions of various plant and animal species in natural and managed ecosystems across Nebraska and around the world. They investigate dynamics of populations, communities, and ecosystems, and suggest ways to help humans and other species coexist sustainably.

Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management
The Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management is a non-profit, grant funded site that provides research-based information on how to responsibly handle wildlife damage problems.

Ecosystem Science
Primary production, ecosystem carbon balance, and nutrient cycling are central themes in ecosystem science, and there is considerable overlap with biogeochemistry, earth system science, global change biology, and complex environmental systems.
Facility
Prairie Pines
The purpose of Prairie Pines is to provide an environmental refuge, enhanced arboretum, and horticultural study area in northeast Lincoln, and eventually to integrate county extension services, community recreation, and wildlife research and education.

Applied Ecology News
A free screening of "Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time" will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Hardin Hall auditorium.
Andrea Faber Taylor, an expert on how being in nature contributes to children's health, will give a talk at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the Hardin Hall auditorium. Her talk is free and open to the public.
Birding enthusiasts have something new to crow about: "Birds of Southwestern Nebraska" has landed. The book is the latest annotated guide to bird species found in and around the Lake McConaughy region, published by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Conservation and Survey Division within the School of Natural Resources.
