Building the Foundation
May 10, 2004
Through the winter and spring of 2004, the SNR Facilitation Committee worked with Martha Gadberry, a private organizational consultant and facilitator, to develop a planning process and set priorities and goals, in part responding to the recommendations of the CSREES external review team and in part to accommodate a planning process involving the newly constituted School. Small group sessions set up by the committee generated an intellectual core statement and a list of goals and priorities.
These were addressed by various small groups and reviewed by the whole group in a faculty-staff assembly held May 10, 2004. The record of those goals and priorities is available below (see Assembly Minutes). In these notes, more was identified than can easily be accomplished in a short period, so priorities need to be developed with an eye toward getting things done quickly, as well as establishing the groundwork to create an improved School for the future.
After the assembly, the Facilitation Committee met to review these notes and to recommended priorities. They will share those recommendations with the Faculty Advisory Committee at their meeting June 3, 2004. The director will then ask the Faculty Advisory Committee to set priorities and provide leadership in making assignments and continuing work toward achieving these goals.
