Committee Members & Responsibilities


The Great Plains CESU operates under the guidelines outlined in the Introduction to CESUs (June, 2001) published by the CESU National Network Office and also as the Terms are described within the Cooperative Agreement.  The GP-CESU is guided by three units: Host University Coordinators, the Executive Committee, and the Managers Committee.  The Host University Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day management of the GP-CESU.  Their duties include communication among all GP-CESU committee members, facilitating the addition of new members, web development, convening meetings, and preparing annual reports of activity.  There are two committees, the Executive Committee and the Managers Committee, which represent partner institutions and federal agencies.  These committees assist in the guidance of the GP-CESU. 

PLEASE NOTE:  The GP-CESU Host University office must be notified in writing of any change in Technical Representative by the agency or partner institution.  The information contained within this document and supporting material must be transferred to the replacement.

Executive Committee
  • Consists of the Host University Coordinators, one technical representative from each partner agency, and one technical representative from each partner institution
     

  • The Executive Committee shall meet at the Host University or another location biennially, and use conference calls as necessary. 
     

  • The purpose of the Executive Committee is to guide the work and operation of the GP-CESU, to include the following:

    • Determine criteria for membership in the GP-CESU

    • Vote on proposals for membership in the GP-CESU

    • Guide and refine processes for keeping members informed

    • Guide and refine processes for administration of the GP-CESU

    • Develop and approve of GP-CESU governing documents

Responsibilities of Executive Committee members

 

  • All members will attend the committee’s meetings or send an appropriate representative to attend.

  • Agency members are responsible for compiling research needs from within their agency and bringing these needs, as appropriate, to the GP-CESU for posting in the on-line Research Needs Catalog.

  • Partner institution members are responsible for assisting the host in assembling faculty research interests and areas of expertise for inclusion in the on-line Expertise Database.

  • All members of the Executive Committee commit to keeping pertinent information about their organization’s needs and expertise up-to-date on the web site by providing updated information to the Administrative Coordinator.

  • All members of the Executive Committee must provide timely response (within 2 weeks) to GP-CESU administrative communications.

Managers Committee
  • Consists of the host university coordinators, and one or two representatives from each federal agency partner.  The Technical Representative who sits on the Executive Committee can also be part of the Managers Committee.

  • The purpose of the Managers Committee is to:

    • Provide advice and guidance to the CESU regarding science priorities

    • Review strategic and annual work plans

    • Assist in evaluating CESU performance during review and renewal of the Cooperative Agreement

  • The Managers Committee shall meet annually either through a meeting or conference call.

Responsibilities of the Managers Committee

  • All members will attend the annual Committee meeting, or send an appropriate representative to attend.

  • All members shall assist in identifying research, education, and technical assistance needs of their agency, and provide this information to the GP-CESU for posting on the on-line Research Needs catalog.

  • All members of the Managers Committee must provide timely response (within 2 weeks) to GP-CESU administrative communications
