GIS Database Development for Kansas and Nebraska Reservoirs

Patti Dappen
James Merchant
Center for Advanced Land Management Information Technologies
University of Nebraska

Abstract: Existing maps of Calamus, Cedar Bluff, Glen Elder, and Webster Reservoirs are dated and do not provide the amount of detail necessary for the Bureau of Reclamation to develop resource management plans.  The development of resource management plans will require a suite of geo-spatial databases covering each reservoir.  The boundary of the study area will be limited to lands owned by the BOR for the above mentioned reservoirs.  Additional high resolution imagery will be obtained for Merritt Reservoir as part of this project.  These databases will be assembled, registered, and incorporated into a comprehensive database that will improve management programs and decisions concerning individual wildlife and recreational management areas through the RMP process.

Funding Agency:
Bureau of Reclamation
Task Agreement # 04FC601920
$29,730 (year 1)

Effective Dates: June 15, 2004 through October 31, 2005
