Prairie Management Plan for Knife River Indian Villages NHS

Abstract: Knife River Indian Villages national Historic Site is in need of a comprehensive prairie management plan for all grasslands located on the site.  The plan will require an evaluation of all resources of KNRI's grassland areas.  The evaluation will include, but is not limited to; identification of soils, identification of existing botanical structure, past history of botanical structure, and how past land-use has altered botanical structure (e.g. grazing and cropping).  Also, possible tools will be identified to KNRI's goal of prairie restoration (e.g. reseeding, grazing, fire, etc.)
