Annual Status Report:  2002 Macroinvertebrate Community Biomonitoring for Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve

Dr. Kyle Hoagland
School of Natural Resource Sciences
University of Nebraska

Abstract:  In 2001, a macroinvertebrate biomonitoring program was established at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in conjunction with additional sampling for chemical and physical water quality parameters.  Since interannual variation of environmental variables is generally quite high, macroinvertebrate biomonitoring was continued in 2002.  The purpose of this project is to identify the macroinvertebrates collected during the summer of 2002, to analyze the sampling data, and to report the results to the park.
