Abstract: Little
biological/ecological information is known about many special
status and federally listed plant species that occur in Wyoming.
These species typically are endemic to Wyoming, are rare in
abundance, and are of concern to BLM biologists regarding their
conservation status. Research conducted on these species
typically is centered around surveys and monitoring to evaluate
distribution, abundance, and demographic characteristics of
populations. Research on several of these species includes
the following tasks:
1. Test the potential
distribution model (Fertig and Thurston 2003) for locating new
occurrences on BLM lands
2. Test aerial photointerpretation as a complementary technique
for locating new occurrences
3. Collect multiple samples within populations and other nearby
varieties as contributing to taxonomic review
4. Document species' habitat requirements
5. Identify any threats, or potential threats, at site of
species' occurrences
