Abstract: The Heartland and Prairie Cluster Inventory and
Monitoring Network (HTLN) is in need of strategies to convey
information about the purposes and objectives of the Inventory &
Monitoring (I&M) Program, inventory and monitoring activities,
research results and trends, and examples of successes in
providing critical information for adaptive management
decisions. No comprehensive plan exists to disseminate
this information to staff and visitors for the 15 network parks,
other National Park Service (NPS) divisions, other federal
agencies, and partners of the program and parks. This
project recognizes that the Vital Signs Monitoring of the I&M
Program must develop methods, media, and strategies to get clear
and concise messages about the efficacy of the I&M Program to a
broad audience with various levels of interest and expertise.
CSU, a partner to the GP-CESU, will develop a strategy for
network outreach and several interpretative products.
