Abstract:
The study will
perform a baseline assessment of amphibians in the Mexican
borderlands adjacent to
Big
Bend National Park
,
Texas
.
The project will assess amphibian presence and
distribution in the Sierra del Carmen and Santa Elena Canyon
Protected areas of Coahuila, and
Chihuahua
,
Mexico
.
In addition to baseline data on the amphibian
communities, products will include distribution maps of all
amphibians detected in the Mexican Protected Areas and Big Bend
National Park, Mexican workshops on identification and sampling
techniques for amphibians, publication of peer reviewed papers,
and preserved specimens to be housed at the Instituto
Technologico de Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
