Resilience and Adaptive Governance of Stressed Watersheds, an IGERT Program

Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship


Stressed Watershed IGERT trainees received training through an interdisciplinary curricula and externships with NGO, industry, and government partners responsible for adaptive management and recovery of the Platte River watershed in the Great Plains.

Externships were focused on the Platte River watershed and other Great Plains watersheds, as well as comparative studies of Eastern European watersheds. This training was enhanced with international exposure to the adaptive management of watersheds in Eastern Europe through the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Vienna, Austria.

Externships were through The Nature Conservancy, Headwaters Corp. and the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Energy, and the United Nations Development Programme.
