SNR Newsletters


A great deal of varied teaching, research and outreach activities take place through the School of Natural Resources. To keep its many publics informed of these activities, the School publishes a number of newsletters.

Director's Report

  • Source: Electronic Newsletter
  • Purpose: To keep individuals informed of how the director and the administrative team are working on the School's behalf.
  • Audience: Primarily SNR faculty, staff and students
  • Frequency: Monthly

DroughtScape

  • Purpose:  Keep good ideas and information flowing that can help policy makers, ag producers, and other resource managers reduce vulnerability to drought.
  • Audience: General public

F&W (Fish and Wildlife) Student Focus

  • Source: Hardcopy, and all copies available on web site.
  • Purpose: To keep current and potential students informed of other students' accomplishments and activities.
  • Audience: Students, alumni, general public

Nebraska Earth Systems Education Network Newsletter

  • Source: Electronic, all copies available on web site.
  • Purpose: Resource for educators in Earth sciences providing information for projects, data, resources, lessons, and Internet sites that have information and activities related to Earth science topics and Earth science education strategies.
  • Audience: Earth science educator in a K-16 arena.
  • Frequency:  4 times a year.

Tern and Plover Conservation Partnership Volunteer Newsletter (and click on the current newsletter link)

  • Source:  Hardcopy, with current issue on web site.
  • Purpose: Volunteer recruitment, share information about the nesting season with current and prospective volunteers.
  • Audience: Volunteers, conservation groups, general public.
  • Frequency:  2 times a year

Water Current

  • Purpose:  Promotion of water research and extension programming leading to appropriate development and conservation of water resources. 
  • Audience: Water professionals, educators, agricultural professionals and producers, university and college faculty and water staff, state and national legislators.
  • Frequency:  6 times a year

Drought Network News

  • Purpose:  Readers submit information on current episodes of drought and its impacts; timely reports of response, mitigation, and planning actions of governments and international organizations (successes and failures); recent research results and new technologies that may advance the science of drought planning and management; recent publications; conference reports and news of forthcoming meetings; and editorials.
  • Audience: Policy makers, drought planners, water resource managers, scientists, NGOs.
  • Frequency:  3 times a year

Natural Resource Links

  • Purpose:  Newsletter of the UNL School of Natural Resources. Interdisciplinary information source about activities in the School of Natural Resources and natural resource information. 
  • Audience: Current and prospective students, the public, stakeholders across a broad range of disciplines and organizations in environment and natural resources; natural resources faculty in the NU system and elsewhere, policy makers, consultants. 
  • Frequency: Winter, spring, summer, fall

Naturally Resourceful (SNR internal newsletter)

  • Purpose/Audience:  Internal communication tool for SNR employees. Includes notes from the director and coordinators, Natural Resources Business Center, and social activities.
