Ya Ding
Hi, I’m Ya Ding, a post-doctorate in natural resource economics in the School of Natural Resources.
My main area of research is the economics of water issues and related policy analysis. My current research will be focused on the study of the economic impacts of drought. I am going to evaluate the losses caused by drought and also the benefits gained from drought mitigation tools and policies.
The projects I have worked on study the problems of water scarcity and water quality, which have a great impact on agricultural, municipal and industrial water supplies, among others.
In the past, I’ve been a post-doctorate research fellow in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. I worked on a federal funded project called the Ogallala Initiative, dealing with problems associated with the depletion of the Ogallala aquifer. I was responsible for developing economic models to analyze the impacts of alternative policy tools on regional economy and groundwater conservation.
I received my PhD from Agricultural Economics Department at Kansas State University, May 2005, and I have been at UNL since April 2006.
