I develop and apply methods for analyses focusing on measurement of the light stable isotopes of nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon of samples at natural abundance levels using isotope ratio mass spectrometry. In the process of which, I operate, maintain, and repair 4 computer controlled isotope ratio mass spectrometers and associated sample preparation systems. I also train and supervise staff and students using the equipment. In addition, I develop procedures and perform lengthy sample preparation involving distillations, operations of high vacuum preparation systems, as well as using automated sample preparation systems.
