Thomas Buell
Hi, I’m Thomas Buell, and I’m a junior from Bellevue majoring in natural resources and environmental economics through the Department of Agricultural Economics and the School of Natural Resources.
I chose this course of study because I’ve always loved the outdoors and I’ve always been interested in economics. I’ve enjoyed this program because it’s different from the conventional economics major. It’s an emerging field of study that’s much needed, and you get to study plenty of science in addition to the usual course work.
While at UNL, I’ve been involved with the UNL Wildlife Club. With the club, I’ve taken a canoe trip down the Niobrara River and this spring attended the Western Wildlife Student Conclave in Lubbock, Texas.
Last summer, I enhanced my career possibilities by working as an intern with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. I was a watercraft inspector educating people about invasive species. I’m working there again this summer.
When I graduate, I’d like to work with some governmental organization such as a state department of natural resources.
