Description from UNL Admissions
Environmental Studies with an Emphasis in Applied Climate Science or Natural Resources
Introduction
This major uses the interdisciplinary approach needed to solve complex environmental problems by emphasizing the physical, biological and social sciences. It is for the student interested in a holistic view of the use, management and conservation of renewable natural resources. The curriculum is based on integrating ecological principles with the use and conservation of natural resources.
Environmental studies is a joint interdisciplinary major offered through the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the College of Arts and Sciences. All students majoring in environmental studies complete a set of core and collateral courses that provide a comprehensive education in environmental science, issues, policies and analytical skills.
In addition, each student chooses an area of emphasis. Students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will complete an emphasis in applied climate science or natural resources. Students must complete a senior thesis and are encouraged to complete an internship with an environmental or natural resources organization.
