Introduction
The two-year Pre-natural Resources Program offers course work in integrated natural resources for students who are uncertain about a major. The list of suggested courses should give the student ample flexibility while ensuring a foundation suitable for any natural resource major. Students may declare a major at any time in this program but must declare one upon completing its 62 credit hours. This program is similar to but not identical with the core curriculum requirements. Those requirements generally take more than two years to complete.
Courses include:
- Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Systems
- Forestry and Natural Resources Orientation
- a general biology requirement
- a choice of general botany or general zoology
- a general ecology course.
Also suggested are
- a trigonometry or calculus course
- written and human communication classes
- courses in soils; agricultural economics; general physics; general chemistry I and II; wildlife ecology and management; water science; weather and climate; and forage and range science
- 6 hours of humanities or social science electives.
