Spectron Engineering SE590 - Wavelength Characterization

Introduction

The wavelengths corresponding to each of the channels of the SE590 are dependent on the placement of the diffraction grating in the camera head of the instrument. Each channel is assumed to have an approximately 10 nm half-band width and each channel is approximately 3 nm apart. The placement of the grating can change over time, so period characterization of the camera head is necessary.  We use nine narrow-band pass filters to complete this characterization.  The procedure is defined following the current wavelength characterization.   Due to the changing of the wavelength characterization over time,  comparison  between SE590 measurements over long periods of time or between different SE590s is generally accomplished by smoothing and resampling the data for 5 nm intervals from 400 to 1000 nm.
