Dogs
Not One But Two......
I didn't get my first dog, Sinclair, on my own. I was kidnapped by two friends who were moving out of town. One to Edinburgh, Scotland; One to Los Angles. Off n to the Lincoln Humane Society to get a little "going away present." Eight years later I thought Sinclair needed a playmate. Back to the Human Society and after 5 trips, Penumbra returned home with me and Sinclair. One thing I found out, I am not a two dog person. They say that your relationship with your first dog will change when you bring in a second dog. Its so true. I guess its like having a second child.
Sinclair
Not the name I would have given him. But then I didn't know that at the Humane Society they give all the animals names. People's names. I never changed it. But when was the last time you heard of a dog named Sinclair? It's original. When his hair is long, think Big Benji that whines a lot. When his hair is short he is a smooth little lamb. But he has the most expressive eyebrows. His worst quality...he likes to take himself for walks. With out me. His best quality.... he loves to snuggle when we watch TV. And he is moldable.
Penumbra
Her original name was Phyllis. NO WAY! Penumbra means the "not complete part of a shadow of a solar eclipse." She has a few white specks here and there otherwise she is as black as night. Well "Penumbra" didn't last too long. She is my wild child and to my complete surprise she is the Alpha-female of the house. SO she gets hollered at a lot. Thus, Penumbra became Penny. A good two syllable name to yell out. She is as quick as a gazelle. And in the morning the best "get up out of bed" mechanism that can be. At night in the winter, she loves to dig under the covers and sleep at the bottom of the bed. And she loves Sinclair.
