My Story

Getachew joined University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in 2016 as a research scholar and faculty fellow at the National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC). Before joining NDMC I worked at Addis Ababa University as an assistant professor, teaching courses in remote sensing and GIS. At NDMC, I am working on two NASA-funded projects: QuickDRI, to detect fast-emerging droughts in the U.S., and VegOut-GHA for the Greater Horn of Africa.
