My Story

I am interested in understanding the environmental factors that drive the transmission of pathogens and parasites through wildlife communities. My current research is aimed at identifying social and ecological predictors of infection by avian blood parasites in bird communities, and in characterizing the resulting effects of infection on birds' behavior and fitness. This work, and my research interests generally, are the result of incubating a lifelong love for animals and wild places through several years of alternating between work as an itinerant bird tech and as a disease ecology research assistant in SNR.
