Studying Nebraska and Serving Nebraskans
For over 125 years
We are a dedicated group of Earth scientists and support staff who continuously strive to build upon an in-state, national, and international reputation for scientific excellence and service. We provide unbiased scientific expertise in the study and interpretation of Earth’s physical characteristics and processes, natural resources, and landscapes.
Our work focuses on the study of Nebraska to create a better understanding of the world around us and the scientific foundation needed for effective decisions. We provide scientific data and resources to the public and collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies, communities, and academia to assess the conditions and issues that affect Nebraskans. We serve Nebraskans through research; geological data and sample preservation; outreach and education; professional continuing education credits; and higher education courses. CSD research impacts not only Nebraskans, but also has global implications that contribute to the advancement of the Earth Sciences.
