The CSD Geological Sample Repository collects, curates, and preserves geological samples to facilitate present and future research that will lead to a better understanding of Nebraska’s geology and provide the necessary scientific data to make informed decisions regarding Nebraska’s natural resources. The repository holdings are puzzle pieces that contain information related to Earth’s geologic history, processes, and natural resources. These extensive and irreplaceable geological samples have been assembled over a period of more than 125 years and continue to grow annually. The Conservation and Survey Division is responsible for administering the CSD Geological Sample Repository as the central repository for the State of Nebraska.
