Nebraska Landscapes

Canyons

Nebraska’s landscapes are diverse. From the Platte River Valley to the Nebraska Sandhills, the Loess Canyons to the Pine Ridge Escarpment, the Salt Creek salt marshes to the Wildcat Hills, playas to plateaus – Nebraska’s scenic landscapes are unique. The landforms and landscapes seen throughout the state evolved over millions of years as the result of geomorphic processes and agents of wind, water, glacial, and tectonic forces. Active processes continue to shape the landscape through erosion, deposition, physical and chemical weathering, mass movement, and anthropogenic changes.
