In order to maintain our shared spaces and keep them clean and free of pests, please follow these food storage and waste instructions.
Store food properly
- Store food and snacks in airtight containers.
- Do not leave food out.
- Pack perishable leftovers and place in the refrigerator as soon as possible (make sure you add your name and date you placed it in there).
- Empty and clean refrigerators once each week or every two weeks, depending on how many people are using it.
Keep your space clean
- Clean your work area with soap and water after you eat or have a snack.
- Clean and dry spills right away (if a large spill, contact Diane Horton, Custodial Supervisor, or a building maintenance reporter (BMR) to request a spill specialist, provide location of spill, and what it is).
- Pack-out dirty food containers daily.
- Put food waste in a compostable bag and dispose of in a designated All-in-the-Hall trash bin (located in public areas on each floor of HarH). Compostable bags are available at all All-in-the-Hall stations in the building.
- Do not leave food waste in classrooms or place in office trash cans.
If you host an event that has food or beverages
- Contact Diane Horton, Custodial Supervisor, or a building BMR and request a garbage tote and ask them to vacuum the floor after the event.
- Use soap and water to wash and dry all table surfaces used during the event.
- If you are working with SNR Event Services, they will request garbage totes when they place your food order(s).
