Our Advisory Board serves the School of Natural Resources by creating awareness, building relationships, and generating support for the mission of the School. The Board supports the School’s mission to champion the natural world by addressing complex environmental issues and teaching future leaders to manage the delicate balance between people and the environment on which we depend.
Jamie Carson
Jamie Carson is the Director of Sustainability at Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, with 20 years of experience in sustainability and environmental planning, implementation, knowledge management and communications, and monitoring and evaluation.
Bailey Feit
Bailey Feit is an educator at heart. She taught high school mathematics for 10 years and now serves as the STEM Education Pathways coordinator between CASNR and Lincoln Public Schools. Bailey is passionate about community involvement and is the Vice Chair of the Spring Creek Prairie Stewardship Board as well as a Lincoln/Lancaster County Planning Commissioner.
Margaret Jacobs
Margaret Jacobs is the Director of the Center for Great Plains Studies and the Charles Mach Professor of History at UNL. She is also the co-director of the Center’s Walking in the Footsteps of our Ancestors: Re-indigenizing Southeast Nebraska project.
Daniel Klaus
Daniel is a graduate of the Nebraska College of Law and an attorney with of Rembolt Ludtke. He is an active community member in Lincoln and a member of The Nature Conservancy of Nebraska’s Board of Trustees.
Brice Krohn
Brice serves as President and CEO of the Crane Trust. He enjoys restoring and preserving functioning prairie landscapes through partnership and collaboration so his children and others can experience nature's beauty and importance.
Tim McCoy
Dr. McCoy is the Director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission with over 30 years of experience in wildlife conservation and natural resources management. His experience includes wildlife and habitat management on public and private lands, wildlife and habitat research, conservation policy, partnership development, and agency administration.
Roric Paulman
Roric operates Paulman Farms near Sutherland, Nebraska. He is the Chair of the Nebraska Water Balance Alliance, and he supports projects to utilizes new technologies for water and soil use management.
Todd Schimelfenig
Todd Schimelfenig works in Emergency Management as the Safety and Risk Specialist for the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. He also has over 25 years of experience working in micrometeorological research at the University of Nebraska.
Susan Seacrest
Susan Seacrest founded and served as President of the Groundwater Foundation from 1984 to 2008 for the purpose of educating the public about groundwater. The Foundation developed a wide variety of programs including the Children’s Groundwater Festival in Grand Island, Nebraska. Currently, she serves on the Lower Platte South Natural Resources Board of Directors.
Sarah Sortum
Sarah (Switzer) Sortum lives and works on her family's ranch in the Sandhills of Loup County where they raise beef cattle, operate a nature based tourism operation, and steward the land for future generations.
Laura Stastny
Ms. Stastny is the Executive Director of Nebraska Wildlife Rehab with more than 20 years of experience as a multi-species wildlife rehabilitator, researcher, educator, and administrator.
Mark Stone
Dr. Stone is a professor of ecological and water resources engineering. He currently serves as Department Head of Biological Systems Engineering at UNL.
Tom Wilmoth
Mr. Wilmoth is an attorney, presently serving in the private sector, with 25 years of experience in the field of natural resources management and litigation.
Jerry Wegiel
Dr. Wegiel is the Principal Investigator for the US Air Force’s interagency scientific collaboration known as Global Hydro Intelligence based at HQ 557 Weather Wing, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He has led multiple international and inter-agency scientific collaborations over the course of his 26+ year career--each project culminating in successful transitions of premier integrated Numerical Weather Modeling and analysis systems from research-to-operations at the 557 Weather Wing.
