Yvon Ukwishaka was born and raised in Musanze, Rwanda. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), where he was awarded the CASNR Undergraduate Scholarship (CUSP). During his undergraduate studies, he majored in Integrated Science with minors in Water Science and Precision Agriculture. Currently, Yvon is pursuing his Master of Science in Natural Resources Science within the School of Natural Resources (SNR) at UNL. His research focuses on understanding the impacts of human activities on the vadose zone and groundwater system, particularly in relation to reactive nitrogen species and their co-occurrence with heavy metals. Aside from his academic pursuits, Yvon is actively involved within the department. He serves as the social committee chair and representative for the UNL-GSA (Graduate Student Association). In his leisure time, Yvon enjoys playing volleyball, spending time with friends, playing piano, and listening to music.
