My Story
Hi, I'm Alexis Downs. I'm a Geology Research Technician under the direction of Paul Hanson helping with laboratory work focused on processing and dating sediment and soil cores, preparing samples for Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL), and conducting geologic mapping utilizing GIS software.
Growing up, I had an extensive rock collection and was always fascinated by the outcrops along the interstate when going on family road trips, which then turned into an interest in the Earth, its processes, and how it was formed. Over time, this interest grew, and with it a geologist was created!
In my free time, I like to read, work on puzzles, and visit new coffee shops in search of the best mocha latte and avocado toast.
