Hi, I'm Michael Hayes. I am an Applied Climatologist and a professor in the School of Natural Resources. I arrived at University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1995 when I began work as climate impacts specialist for the National Drought Mitigation Center. Between 2007 and October 2016, I was the director of the NDMC. At the moment, I teach one class called Climate and Society. The objective of this class is for students to understand the effects of climate variability and extreme climate events on human activities and how human activities impact climate and natural resources management. I am getting more involved with the Applied Climate Science undergraduate degree program.
